Why this course?
Real meaningful change cannot be achieved by your organisation alone. Organisations need to team up with others and pool resources, stimulate innovation, influence policy makers and maximise impact. Developing healthy partnerships means developing ways of working together and mobilising energy that will produce results. How to get there is what this course is about.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, you will:
- Understand critical issues in creating and managing partnerships
- Learn to conduct a partnership / stakeholder and issues analysis
- Understand differences among a variety of partnership structures
- Be able to assess the partnership steering structures, strategy, cooperation system/processes and learning & innovation functions
- Have understood how to build stronger cooperation and address conflict
- Have practiced skills in managing the partnership
Who should join?
Anyone who is participating or involved in setting up or managing a multi-agency partnership. This is for people who are working in a thematic working group, with a network organisation, an alliance, a consortium, or alike which can be made up of private companies, NGOs, or governmental and development organisations.

Mr. Toonen is senior trainer of MDF Vietnam office. Koen also has over 20 years of development experience at the UN. He was involved in managing the UNDP-UNEP Poverty Environment Partnership. He is an all-round development expert and trainer in Results-Based Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Advocacy and Policy Influencing, Network Management, Multistakeholder Partnerships, Sustainability Planning, Institutional Development and Organisational Strengthening, notably for poverty alleviation and environmental management.
